Membership and Engagement Committee – Role and Responsibilities

The Membership and Engagement Committee of CATCA (Catholic Tamil Community Association)plays a vital role in welcoming, supporting, and connecting members to the life and activities of the organization. The committee ensures that all members feel valued, informed, and actively involved in CATCA’s faith, cultural, and community initiatives.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Membership and Engagement Committee is to foster a strong sense of belonging, encourage active participation, and strengthen relationships within the CATCA community. The committee promotes engagement through outreach, communication, and support for both new and existing members.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Membership Recruitment and Welcome:

• Encourage new families and individuals to join CATCA.

• Provide orientation for new members, explaining CATCA’s mission, values, committees, and events.

• Maintain an updated membership directory with contact information, family details, and participation records.

2. Member Engagement and Retention:

• Plan initiatives to increase participation in Masses, cultural events, charity programs, and community activities.

• Foster connections among members by organizing small group gatherings, family events, and social activities.

• Encourage volunteerism by promoting committee and event participation opportunities.

3. Communication and Outreach:

• Coordinate with the Media and Communication Committee to share newsletters, announcements, and updates with members.

• Ensure members are informed of upcoming events, registration processes, and community initiatives.

• Gather feedback from members to improve programs, events, and overall engagement.

4. Community Building:

• Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members.

• Organize appreciation events or recognition programs for active members and volunteers.

• Help resolve member queries, concerns, or suggestions in coordination with the Executive Committee.

5. Collaboration with Other Committees:

• Work with Event Management, Cultural, and Hospitality Committees to encourage member participation.

• Coordinate with Youth and Kids Committee to involve families and children in community programs.

• Support Charity & Outreach initiatives by mobilizing members for service activities.

6. Data Management and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of membership, volunteer participation, and engagement metrics.

• Provide reports to the Executive Committee on membership trends, participation levels, and outreach effectiveness.

• Track growth and retention strategies to strengthen CATCA’s community presence.
