Hospitality Committee – Role and Responsibilities

The Hospitality Committee of CATCA (Catholic Tamil Community Association) plays a key role in creating a warm, welcoming, and caring environment at all community gatherings. The committee embodies the Christian spirit of kindness and service by ensuring that every member, guest, and visitor feels valued and included in the fellowship of CATCA.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Hospitality Committee is to extend the love of Christ through acts of welcome, service, and fellowship. The committee ensures that every event — whether spiritual, cultural, or social — reflects CATCA’s values of compassion, unity, and generosity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welcoming and Greeting:

• Greet members, families, and guests warmly at all CATCA events and Masses.

• Provide directions, event programs, and seating assistance when needed.

• Make special efforts to welcome new families and visitors, helping them feel part of the community.

• Coordinate food and beverage arrangements for all CATCA events.

• Ensure that meals or snacks are served efficiently and hygienically.

• Arrange tables, decorations, and dining areas to create a pleasant and family-friendly atmosphere.

• Collaborate with volunteers for setup, serving, and cleanup.

3. Coordination with Other Committees:

• Work closely with the Event Management Committee on logistics and scheduling.

• Collaborate with the Cultural and Liturgy Committees for special receptions after Masses, feast days, or performances.

• Coordinate with the Finance Committee to manage food budgets and donations responsibly.

4. Volunteer Engagement:

• Recruit and organize volunteers to assist with hospitality duties.

• Ensure volunteers are courteous, service-minded, and represent CATCA’s values.

• Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions after each major event.

5. Special Events and Guest Care:

• Make arrangements for welcoming clergy, guest speakers, and visiting dignitaries.

• Prepare welcome kits, thank-you tokens, or floral arrangements for special occasions.

• Provide hospitality support during community outreach, charity, and interfaith events.

6. Clean-Up and Stewardship:

• Oversee cleanup and ensure that venues are left neat and orderly.

• Promote responsible waste management and environmental care.

• Maintain inventories of hospitality supplies (plates, cups, decorations, etc.).

7. Spirit of Fellowship:

• Encourage warmth, inclusivity, and community bonding through thoughtful gestures.

• Foster a spirit of joy, teamwork, and gratitude that strengthens CATCA’s family-like culture.

In Summary:

The Hospitality Committee is the heart of welcome in CATCA.

Through acts of service and genuine care, the committee reflects Christ’s love and builds a sense of belonging. Their work transforms every gathering — whether a Mass, celebration, or social event — into a moment of fellowship, joy, and gratitude.
