Cultural Committee – Role and Responsibilities
The Cultural Committee of CATCA (Catholic Tamil Community Association) plays a vital role in celebrating and showcasing the rich Tamil culture, faith, and community spirit through various cultural events organized during CATCA’s festive gatherings.
Purpose:
The Cultural Committee’s purpose is to plan, coordinate, and execute cultural programs that bring joy, unity, and a sense of belonging among members, while also reflecting the community’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Event Planning and Coordination:
• Organize cultural performances such as music, dance, drama, and skits during CATCA festive events (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Family Day, and Annual Gatherings).
• Develop a detailed event schedule and coordinate with the overall event committee to align cultural programs with the main event timeline.
2. Participant Engagement:
• Encourage participation from all age groups—children, youth, and adults—to showcase their talents.
• Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and training sessions to ensure high-quality performances.
• Promote inclusivity by giving opportunities to members from different Anbiums and regions.
3. Creative Development:
• Develop themes that align with the spirit of the festival and CATCA’s mission.
• Support the creation of original skits, songs, and dances that blend faith, culture, and values.
• Collaborate with the choir, liturgy, and media teams for integrated presentations.
4. Logistics and Execution:
• Arrange stage setup, sound, lighting, and costume requirements for the performers.
• Ensure smooth stage transitions and effective time management during the program.
• Coordinate with the Master of Ceremonies (MC) and technical teams for seamless execution.
5. Promotion and Communication:
• Work with the communications team to promote cultural programs and recruit participants.
• Provide details for event flyers, social media posts, and announcements.
6. Documentation and Recognition:
• Maintain a record of cultural performances, participants, and scripts for future reference.
• Recognize and appreciate volunteers, performers, and coordinators who contribute to the success of the programs.
7. Faith and Community Building:
• Ensure all programs reflect CATCA’s Christian values and Tamil cultural identity.
