In the Tamil Catholic tradition, Anbium (அன்பியம்) means a fellowship of love. The word combines “Anbu” (love) and “-iyam” (a group or community), expressing the idea of people united by faith and love. Within the Church, an Anbium represents a small Christian community — families who live nearby and come together to grow spiritually, support one another, and serve the wider community.
Each Anbium meets regularly in homes or churches to pray, reflect on Scripture, and share life’s blessings and challenges. Members strengthen their faith through mutual encouragement and by living out the Gospel message in their daily lives. Through these gatherings, friendships deepen, and the love of Christ is shared in practical ways — through visiting the sick, helping families in need, and participating in parish activities.

அன்பியம் என்றால் என்ன?
அன்பியம் (Anbium) என்பது தமிழ்க் கத்தோலிக்க மரபில் அன்பின் கூட்டமைப்பு அல்லது அன்பின் உறவுக் குழு என்று பொருள் தருகிறது. “அன்பு” என்பது அன்பை, “இயம்” என்பது ஒரு குழு அல்லது சங்கத்தை குறிக்கும் சொல். ஆகவே, அன்பியம் என்பது நம்பிக்கை மற்றும் அன்பின் அடிப்படையில் இணைந்துள்ள சிறிய கிறிஸ்தவ சமூகக் குழு ஆகும்.
