✝ Brief History About Ashburn - St. Theresa Anbium

“Do small things with great love.” – St. Thérèse of Lisieux

The Ashburn St. Thérèse Anbium began humbly in February 2017 with just five to six familiescoming together in prayer and fellowship. Our Anbium was placed under the patronage of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the “Little Flower,” following the example of our local parish, St. Thérèse Catholic Church in Ashburn. From these modest beginnings, our community has grown into a vibrant and faith-filled family united by the Holy Spirit and a shared commitment to prayer, service, and spiritual growth.

Faith, Fellowship, and Family Life

Every month, we gather joyfully to pray the Holy Rosaryread and reflect on the Gospel, and share a meal in fellowship. These meetings have become a cherished time of spiritual renewal and community bonding for our members. Our children play an active role, participating in prayers and reflections, and enjoying the warm sense of togetherness that follows. Through these gatherings, families grow closer—to God and to one another—living out St. Thérèse’s example of love in simplicity and devotion.

Acts of Service and Charity

Inspired by St. Thérèse’s spirit of doing small things with great love, our Anbium is deeply committed to serving others through acts of kindness and charity. Every year, we participate in the Lenten Soup Supper at our parish, preparing soups, salads, and homemade dishes to support the church’s charitable missions. The joy of working together for a greater purpose strengthens our unity and faith.

We have also organized several Toy Drives during Christmas to support local charities such as SSJJMobile Hope, and Inova Children’s Hospital, spreading love and joy to children in need. Beyond the holidays, our members contribute to charity drives for diapers, backpacks, clothing, and Christmas stockings for underprivileged families. Our children also take part in sandwich-packing events to provide meals for homeless shelters—learning early the value of service and compassion.

Compassion in Times of Need

One of the greatest strengths of the St. Thérèse Anbium is the spirit of care and support that flows among its members. During times of illness, grief, or hardship, we come together to pray, visit families, and provide food and comfort. This compassionate network reflects the true essence of Christian community—standing by one another as one family in Christ.

Active Participation in CATCA

Our Anbium plays an active role within CATCA, participating in monthly Masses and events. When it is our turn to host, we take special joy in animating the liturgy, leading the choir, and preparing foodfor all attendees. Our families and children also shine at CATCA’s annual Christmas celebrations, showcasing their talents through songs, dances, instrumentals, and skits that celebrate faith and culture with joy.

These moments of collaboration and creativity are among the highlights of our year, bringing our families immense pride and spiritual fulfillment.

Moving Forward in Faith

The Ashburn St. Thérèse Anbium continues to grow as a close-knit and prayerful family that strives to live out St. Thérèse’s message of love, humility, and faithfulness. Together, we are committed to deepening our spiritual lives, supporting one another through prayer and service, and giving back to our community in ever more generous ways.

With St. Thérèse as our guide, we pray that our Anbium continues to flourish—spreading the fragrance of faith and love in everything we do.
